This Privacy Policy explains how Cyber Optimal LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use Remenu (the “App”). By using Remenu, you agree to the practices described here.
The App stores the dining journal content you enter, including:
This content is stored locally on your device using SwiftData and, if iCloud sync is enabled, in your private CloudKit database. See Apple iCloud & CloudKit Sync below.
You may add photos to your visits and dishes. You can choose existing photos through the iOS system photo picker or take new photos with your camera. Photos you select are stored as part of your journal content on your device and, if iCloud sync is enabled, in your private iCloud.
The following information is used only briefly in memory to provide features and is not stored by the App:
We use the information described above for the sole purpose of providing the App’s features to you: saving your restaurant journal, displaying it on a map, showing statistics, and syncing it across your devices through your private iCloud. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the App.
If you are signed in to iCloud on your device, Remenu syncs your journal content to your private CloudKit database so it appears across your devices. This private database is tied to your Apple ID and is not accessible to us or to anyone else. Apple’s own privacy practices apply to iCloud. You can disable iCloud sync for Remenu at any time in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage or Show All (under “Apps Using iCloud”) and turning Remenu off. Disabling sync keeps your data only on the current device.
For details on how Apple handles iCloud data, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Remenu uses Apple’s MapKit to search for nearby restaurants, cafés, and bars based on what you type and your approximate location. Your search queries and coarse location are sent to Apple as the MapKit service provider, not to us. The “Open in Maps” button hands a saved restaurant off to Apple Maps for directions; no data is sent to us in that hand-off. We do not collect or store the results of these queries beyond the restaurant content you choose to save.
For details on how Apple handles MapKit data, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Remenu uses the camera only when you choose to take a photo to add to a visit or dish. When first used, iOS will show this message:
“Remenu uses the camera to add photos to your visits.”
You can revoke camera access or review it at any time in iOS Settings → Remenu.
Remenu uses your location only while the App is open, to show how far away restaurants are in search results and to sort your Bucket List by distance. Location access is requested only “While Using the App” — never “Always.” When first used, iOS will show this message:
“Remenu uses your location to show how far away restaurants are in search results.”
Your current location is used transiently and is never stored or synced. You can revoke location access or review it at any time in iOS Settings → Remenu.
You control all of your data in Remenu:
You have the right to access, correct, and delete the information you have entered in Remenu by using the App’s built-in editing and deletion features. You may disable iCloud sync at any time. For any other request regarding your data, email jonathan@cyberoptimal.com and we will respond promptly.
The “Open in Maps” feature hands a restaurant location off to Apple Maps. Remenu does not collect any information in that hand-off. Once you leave the App for Apple Maps, Apple’s privacy practices apply (see Apple’s Privacy Policy).
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we handle your information.
